Michael Borg, National Sales Manager and David Stuckey, Managing Director

Incorporated in 1978, Selectrix is a 100 percent Australian owned company with 150 employees worldwide. Australian branch offices are located in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth, with the head office here in Thomastown.

Selectrix manufactures a wide range of industrial hardware products. These include industrial locks, latches, hinges, railway signalling products, rubber sealing and switchboard accessories. The company has recently opened a subsidiary in Indonesia joining the others located in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

David Stuckey, Managing Director, is excited about Indonesia’s future prospects. “We have opened a factory which has zinc die-casting, computer numeric-controlled machining and a full 3D CAD design team. We recently received ISO9001 quality accreditation,” he says. When first looking at Indonesia some three years ago, David became involved with the Australia Indonesia Business Council Limited (AIBC), and later was appointed to the Board. “We needed the support from AIBC and they provided us with the contacts and knowledge of the Indonesian market we needed, to make it work,” he explains.

Selectrix has been enjoying stable growth providing employment  opportunities locally. “With hard work and skilled staff, we are in a great position to continually grow our business. This puts us in a position to support our community and do what we can,” says David. Selectrix, in partnership with Disability Works Australia (DWA), has implemented a pilot program which has resulted in two people with disabilities employed at the warehouse in Thomastown. “Making a difference is rewarding,” says David. “No modifications were needed to accommodate either staff member. We just had to be flexible and our staff are proud to work for a company that
gives back to the community.”

In 2005, Selectrix won the Australian Railway Industry Corporation (ARIC) Export Award for its rail division in achieving substantial export sales growth in the tough South American market. Selectrix is currently preparing to undertake research and development, with the assistance of AusIndustry and its grant program, which supports innovation and commercialisation.
